To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the society, the Handelian Society present an abridged form of Handel's oratorio Samson. It was first performed by the society 60 years ago in December 1946. Soloists: Soprano: Margeret Threadgold; Alto: Emily Renshaw; Tenor: George Bartle; Baritone: Simon Mold. Joining the society for the performance will be the Becker Ensemble.

March 25th 2006 Handel: Messiah
7.30pm, Assembly Hall of Queen Elizabeth Grammar School Hall, Faversham

The Deal and Walmer Handelian Society join Faversham Choral Society and the Becker Ensemble at 7.30pm in the Assembly Hall of Queen Elizabeth Grammar School Hall, Faversham for a grand performance of Messiah to celebrate Faversham Choral Societies 40th anniversary. Unusual Choice pays off for choir

Although comparatively popular during Handel's lifetime, the oratorio Alexander's Feast has not sustained the enduring public favour as other works such as The Messiah and Judus Maccabeus. It was to their credit that The Deal and Walmer Handelian Society and their conductor Peter Litman took on this dramatic work and gave a performance in St Mary's Church Walmer, that revealed genuine enthusiasm and evident drive.

The choir sang with gusto and ensured that the part-writing was clear and that the ensemble was good...
